Varieties

A wide range of varieties with a view to the future

As an international company, Feldsaaten Freudenberger relies on varieties that have a high level of adaptability to the given environmental conditions. Above all, the aspects of heat and drought tolerance have gained in importance in recent years and are the focus of plant breeding work. Just like agricultural crops, garden plants must be adapted to the changed climatic conditions.

In cooperation with over 35 cultivation companies, varieties are registered and upon approval are recommended in many countries. Feldsaaten Freudenberger has more than 200 of its own varieties, 60 of which are proprietary lawn grasses, covering all areas of lawn use.

All Feldsaaten Freudenberger varieties were created using classic plant breeding methods and are therefore not genetically modified. This classic method of plant breeding has proven itself for a long time and has been continuously perfected. It takes at least 10 years for a breeding line to develop to the point where it can be registered as a variety. The ability to react quickly to changing conditions requires forward thinking, action and a diverse range of varieties.

Feldsaaten Freudenberger has its own team that deals with varieties and experiments and takes care of ongoing development of the range. Promising breeding lines are cultivated in the in-house laboratory and on test areas and selected after testing. Some varieties are registered every year and the quality of the variety is constantly improved.
