Serradella is particularly suitable for light soils with a low lime content. It is an annual and single-cut fodder plant and classified as a legume (nitrogen collector). It is suitable for use as fodder and green manure. Since the degree of lignification in the plant is low, it can still be used as a fodder plant at a late stage and is readily eaten. Serradella can be sown as a catch crop from July to mid-August or used as green forage. Beneficial insects like to visit the small white-red flowers.
