ReNatura® Alfalfa 0.5 kg

The queen of fodder plants

Alfalfa (lucerne) is particularly suitable for calcareous and loose soils. The “queen of fodder plants” is a beloved source of perennial fodder for many species of livestock, including cattle and sheep, though it is also given to small animals like rabbits. In good years, alfalfa can yield several cuts, resulting in plentiful fodder production. Its symbiosis with nodule-forming bacteria transforms atmospheric nitrogen into plant-available forms of the element, meaning that no fertiliser is needed and the nitrogen remains available for subsequent crops.

Advantages of alfalfa:

  • Protein-rich fodder
  • Nectar-yielding flowers for beneficial insects
  • Fixation of atmospheric nitrogen through symbiosis with rhizobia
  • High-yielding fodder plants
  • Drought tolerance
