Purple vetch

Vicia benghalensis

Purple vetch is characterized by excellent growth and a high establishment speed. It rapidly covers the soil and produces large amounts of biomass in a short time, making it an attractive summer catch crop, also in combination with other catch crops. It has a lower TGW than other vetch species, which facilitates its use in mixtures. Purple vetch is frost-sensitive, ensuring reliable winterkill. Thanks to its root system, it provides good soil structuring and enables the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen.
